Come Join Us!

Our purpose is to develop character, citizenship, and fitness in the youth members we serve. We do this by providing a rich program of activities and outings. The Troop is organized and operated by the boys. This gives them an opportunity to develop skills in leadership, planning, communications and public speaking. The outdoor activities are often considered High Adventure. These outings are selected by the boys and may include backpacking, hiking, cycling, snow camping, peak bagging and canoeing. The outings serve to teach the basic responsibilities of cooking, personal hygiene and survival skills. The boys work together in teams called patrols where they develop social skills.

Troop 813 relies heavily on parent participation to implement the program activities planned by the boys. All parents are required to volunteer at one time or another during the year.

Scoutmasters

While the older Scouts provide the leadership for the Troop, the Scoutmaster and his/her assistants provide the oversight to these young men. The Scoutmaster is the glue that keeps the unit together through the transition of the youth leadership. It is along with the Committe Chair the most important position in the Troop.

Our Troop has been blessed to have some of the best Scoutmasters
